Greg Melander is an Experience Designer who strives to make the complex simple and the mundane emotional. Based in Seattle Washington, Greg works on future vision as a Sr. Experience Design Lead.
Before joining Bing, Greg served in Microsoft’s FUSE labs working on innovative social ideas. Previous to FUSE he worked in the Entertainment & Devices Group. Working across groups, he collaborated to create one of the first proof of concept prototypes for the Xbox “Natal” project, now named Microsoft Kinect. Later, for the Windows Phone, he pioneered the new “Live Tiles” home screen design and the new Microsoft visual design language. Greg’s first job at Microsoft was in Windows, where he helped establish the “AERO” design language and has been named on numerous design patents.
Before coming to Microsoft Greg co-founded the start-up Powersearch.com and Mindcrossing.com, both social search and expert crowd sourcing web sites. His passion for great design continues to show as he develops new rich user experiences.
